Quality Assurance and Performance Testing Documentation

 

Load and Performance testing documentation details the rationale, questions, method, and answers that pertaining to performance and reliability of a critical IT systems.   Good testing documentation clearly states the questions that must be answered during a testing cycle, along with the method for test execution. 

 

Test environments, laboratories and tools represent substantial capital expenditure.  Return on such investments can only me maximized through a methodology of continuous process of improvement. 

 

Regular documentation reviews of all aspects of load and performance testing projects can be a strategic means toward such process improvement that increases return on investment of testing facilities. 

 

For load and performance documentation to be meaningful it is essential that:

        -    Critical performance related questions are adequately stated,

        -    Documented testing conclusions are consistent with test outcomes,

        -    That test outcomes are based on valid tests,

        -    That tests are designed to answer the critical business questions.

 

Our document review services are a quick and convenient means of reviewing your test documentation.  Our services can be utilized as a 'virtual mentor' or as a external review service.  If you outsource your performance testing, or run it in-house, then this service is for you.  

 

Documents are checked, with attention to detail:

-    For internal consistency,

-    Against industry best practice approaches,

-    By load testers with at least five years load testing experience,

How it works

bullet Initiate Review request by email to docreview@loadtest.com.au.
bullet We will respond after checking application for completeness (e.g. if Test Execution Report refers back to Detailed Test Plan for test details, then the Detailed Test Plan needs to be sent to us as supporting documentation.)  We ask for confirmation that you are formally requesting services to be provided and understand that you are entering into a contract for services.
bullet The Service Level Clock starts ticking on receipt of your confirmation.
bullet We send an annotated, reviewed document back, asking for confirmation that you accept that the review has been completed in accordance to your instructions. 
bullet We call you, by phone, if you request such a call, to talk you though any issues identified in the document.
bullet We send you an invoice for the amount calculated above at the time the review was requested.
bullet On receipt of a request to delete all relevant documentation, we immediately delete all attachments to all mail messages that contain review and or supporting documents exchanged in the review process.

  * Test Project Size is a measure in terms of Person Days of Effort expended in developing and executing the test project for which the documentation to be reviewed relates.  Where a test is in effect a 're-test' then the first review by RPM Solutions for any document will be based on the  initial test effort expended in setting up the original test, and any subsequent review of the same document type will be based on the time taken for retesting. 

Example:

Test for ABC v1.0 developed early in 2002 took 4 man months of test effort.

Testing for ABC v1.5 in late 2002 took only 2 weeks of test effort.

Testing for ABC v2.0 early in 2002 took 3 weeks of test effort.

Initial review of Test Execution Report for ABC v1.5 would be based on 4 man months of effort.

Then reviewing a Test Execution Report for ABC v2.0 would be based on 3 weeks of test effort.
